Better for energy companies to place wording on a person’s bill in September stating what the EPC reads, or would be assessed as using the algorithm, for the property, and a short statement say whether this passes or fails the EPC threshold and why.
A set of measures bill payers or property owner could take to get an up to date EPC sorted and reported back for reassessment.

This would sort out the digitally excluded population as well as the correspondence from the energy company only being to the people who are eligible. This means the letters are in the care of our super efficient postal service🥴.

The notification could, alternatively, be done on bills the day after the qualifying period ends for the same or next month’s bill.

This way there will be nobody on domestic bills left wondering if they did/ did not qualify and the reason why.

True enough. It’s good though that most people who are eligible for WHD won’t now have to apply for it.
