Thanks for the comment. Yes, Attendance Allowance can be a lifeline for older people with disabilities. It has made a big difference to my friend and her husband, and means that at least money problems aren’t adding to the already considerable stresses of the current lockdown.

Thanks, Caz. Yes, absolutely. The article I linked to near the top reckons that around 3.4 million pensioners who would be eligible for Attendance Allowance aren’t receiving it, which is a shockingly high number. i am sure that lack of awareness and the dauntingly long application form must play a part in this.

Very good point in highlighting it’s for personal care needs; the likes of washing up or cleaning the house aren’t going to be viewed the same and nor are mobility requirements. Brilliant post because it’s sad to think there will be many entitled to this without even knowing it exists.

I don’t know how they’d have coped without it really. Hopefully it’ll still be something the government give people access to as time goes on!
