It’s scary to see a firmr that decribes itself as “the UK’s largest financial services review site” saying “Borrow responsibly: if you miss a repayment your credit score will be affected for seven years” which is simply wrong for the UK. They have just copied this from some American site where the credit reporting rules are very diferent.

In the Uk it’s 6 years.

In reply to Jenny. Thanks, Jenny. Hopefully it may not be as bad as some people are saying. More government support with energy prices has been promised, and additional gas storage and power generating facilities are being brought on stream. But yes, this is certainly going to be a tough winter for many. Some may have no alternative but to borrow to survive. But as I say in the article, this should only be done as a last resort and to the minimum extent necessary.

It’s going to be a difficult few years for a lot of people, I can’t imagine having to use credit cards to survive.

It is scary to see how many people are looking at borrowing just to pay everyday living costs. We are definitely noticing the pinch so it is tough x
