Thanks, Rhian. I appreciate we all have different views about this, but I haven’t seen any convincing real-world evidence that masks reduce transmission of the virus, but plenty for the harms they can cause. In my view we really do need to get back to normal now and learn to live with the virus.

Thanks for your comment, Jenny. Truthfully I don’t see anyone in my town wearing masks outside any more, though mask-wearers are still in a majority in shops. If the numbers continue to fall, I hope more people will have the confidence to ditch their masks. I feel very sorry for people in Scotland, who it appears today will have to go on wearing them indefinitely.

I do of course accept that everyone should be free to wear a mask if it gives them reassurance, but it shouldn’t be compulsory.
