Thanks for the comment. At the moment it’s just a proposal and personally I hope it doesn’t happen. If it does, it will presumably be down to individuals to provide their own face coverings. Shops may or may not offer them for customers, and are likely to charge for them if they do. The evidence on the benefits of wearing masks/face coverings in public places is weak, and many people don’t use them correctly, which could actually increase the risk of transmitting the virus. So yes, I am very sceptical about this proposal!
