No worries, Chris. It was an interesting exercise for me too. I will include this figure in my next monthly update, although I won't necessarily do it every time.

Thank you, that’s really helpful.
My fixed allocation is currently a 5/5 risk.
Just trying to way up if the Smart Alpha will be more beneficial (obviously need to factor in the higher costs as well).
I may wait a little longer to decide as I’m 39yrs old and in it for the long term.
If you could add these percentages into your updates each month then that would be really helpful, and maybe we can both make our minds up in the future :-)

No problem! Since the start of this year my Smart Alpha portfolio has risen by £347 or 11.48%. My larger Fully Managed portfolio has risen by £1616 or 8.12% during this time. So based on that, the Smart Alpha port has clearly done better (and I should probably switch more money to it). Of course, past performance is never any guarantee of what will happen in future. Also, bear in mind that I have set quite high risk levels for both these portfolios (9/10 FM, 5/5 SA). So if you prefer to set lower risk levels, the outcomes could potentially be different.
I hope that's some help anyway. Good luck whatever you decide!

Hi.
I’ve been reading your updates every month, very informative.
I currently hold an ISA with Nutmeg under the ‘Fixed Allocation’ portfolio.
I’m tempted to switch over to the Smart Alpha portfolio but there is not much historical performance since it is a new concept.
Can I ask what your percentage return is for this year (or a set period) under the Smart Alpha compared to your Fully Managed?
Thanks
