Thanks, Rhian. Yes, and over the five-year period I have been investing with Nutmeg I am still well ahead overall. You do have to expect ups and downs with stocks and shares, but over a period of years they have almost always performed better than cash.

Thanks, Rachel. Glad to hear your work investment portfolio is doing okay in the circumstances. Fingers crossed the world economic situation will start to improve again soon!

We have a stocks and shares portfolio for work which I help part manage but with a stock broker on hand for advice and it hasn't done too badly so far for 2022, a slight dip but not as drastic as I had expected!

Lots going on with your investments, it's a shame your Nutmeg ones fell so much but at least it's not as much of a drop as you said from previous months x

Nick, thanks for your advice - and yes I realise it is not formal financial advice. I am slightly spooked by the fall in value as I am a very new investor. These do seem to be rather exceptional times. I think that any rise in the market is a long way off and it's difficult for me to know whether the range of investments by Nutmeg will thrive once/if better times return.

In reply to <a href="https://www.poundsandsense.com/my-investments-update-june-2022/#comment-15836">Kevin Halden</a>.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for your query. You will understand that I am not a qualified independent financial adviser, so I can't give personal financial advice. I am happy to share a few thoughts about the current situation, though.

First of all, if you really need the money now you could of course withdraw some, but otherwise my inclination would be to stay put. There are always ups and downs in the markets and we are currently going through a very turbulent time. I am actually considering topping up my Nutmeg investment now whilst asset values are depressed, but of course I do understand why many people are feeling spooked. If you withdraw money now, though, you are simply crystallizing your losses.

If it helps, you can always lower the risk level of your Nutmeg portfolio. This should help reduce further losses going forward, but of course it will also reduce the opportunity to profit if/when there is an upswing.

And yes, with Nutmeg you don't get any say over which investments are liquidated if you do a partial withdrawal. It would be done pro rata across all the underlying investments. Nutmeg isn't like platforms such as Bestinvest or Hargreaves Lansdown where you typically choose a range of funds and can decide if and when to sell any particular one. Nutmeg is a robo-adviser platform so investment selection is all performed automatically.

Nick, Thanks for your June 2022 update on your Nutmeg investments. My investments have also recently dropped fairly substantially. I wonder if you have any observations on withdrawing a proportion of your investment from Nutmeg - rather than the whole sum? Any views on this course of action?
Also, I cant see anywhere how Nutmeg would decide which funds would be best to sell in that circumstance. Maybe they would just apply the withdrawal equally across a range of funds/investments?
